Henry Dreyfuss

Henry Dreyfuss (March 2, 1904 – October 5, 1972), was a well known American industrial designer of the 1930's and 40's.

Some of his most well-known achievements include the design of the classic table-top telephone and the hoover.

Dreyfuss was known for creating an anthropometric chart which features 'Joe' and 'Josephine'.

Anthropology plays an important role in industrial design and allows the designer to utilise statistical data of human dimensions in the design of clothing, industrial based design and architecture.

Anthropometric charts require regular updating due to the ever-changing life styles of the population, factors such as an obesity epidemic effect the data used in these charts.
